The second heart-stopping shooter by Monolith (after F.E.A.R.) continues the spine-tingling supernatural suspense story of an escalating paranormal crisis that threatens to destroy a major American city. At the center of the calamity is the mysterious Alma, whose rage against those who wronged her triggered a chain of events that has spiraled completely out of control. Now that she has been loosed upon the world, the consequences will be unimaginable.

Although this game is technically a follow-up to F.E.A.R., the game will not carry the F.E.A.R. franchise name due to a shift in publishers -- instead, it will feature a new name for its frights. This next-gen entry is being developed separately yet concurrently with its PC twin of terror.

I played the demo... And was realy dissapointed... The graphics are worst than the first one.. I playrd it on my athlon x2 4400 2,2 ghz 2 gb ram 8800gt 512 mb. Also there are not shadows anymore and physics are worst than the first one. That why it runs faster on my machine than the first game.... FUCKING CONSOLES!!! If it was a pc exculsive, then it should look way better than the first one... But they downgraded the graphics and special effects a lot .... I think they did it to make sure that the fucking consoles will be able to play it.... I sent an email to monolith about this and i have not any responce yet.... They must improve the pc version as soonn as possible!!

I loved FEAR original online multiplayer, and my friend bought FEAR2 . So I played the new online version of his, and its completely different.

I have a serious problem. When I start the game I get this message :
Sound Acceleration Error - The game runs fine but there is absolutely no sound.
I have done what the readme.txt suggested but it didnt work. I checked forums too, lots of ppl have this kinda problem. Its has something to do with the integrated sound card on the motherboard. It seems that the game doesn't select the default playback device.

Anyway, I checked and I have the latest sound driver ( for soundmax integrated digital hd audio), installed latest directx, deactivated all 3rd party codecs that could interfere, copied the sound fix file, but still no sound.

I really want to play this game, but without sound, it wouldnt be F.E.A.R. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!

Finished downloading this after almost a week and a half of 10kb/s - 25 kb/s... -_-

Extracted it last night, went to sleep, got home today and played it.

Sorta raged when there was no voices, almost deleted it because it wouldn't be worth it without dialogue, but I decided that I ought to check the comments to see if anything new came about. Lucky I did, or else I wouldn't have found the patch :)

hi all, thanks for the great rip and getting the fix up so fast, i just cant seem to get it to work :s i have extracted the file to my fear 2/game folder and see a LayerA.Arch01 file in there on its own and in my normal fear 2/ folder i see a file of the same name but larger in size along with arch01 through to layer 15. am i doing something wrong? i just wanna get the voices working so i can fully appreciate the game. thank you

By the way guys for those of you with 4:3 or 16:10 monitors--black bands are gonna (infuriatingly) show at the top and bottom of your screen, thereby reducing your viewable screen. To get rid of it I would suggest downloading RenaFuse's FEAR 2 (non-steam)update patch 1.01 & 1.02 at

It has options under the Performance and Game options to get rid of the black bands (untick wide screen in Advanced Performance Options--if you don't have 16:9 widescreen monitor) and the grainy film covering the screen (under Game Options). For trouble free installing I would suggest the following. Turn off all unnecessary programes (including your Internet surfing) before doing any installing work. Install in the following order: 1)Game 2)Broken voices patch 3)1.01 & 1.02 update patches. Worked trouble free for me. One more thing, don't forget to add the game folder to your Virus "Always Allow" list. I use Vipre & it destroyed the FEAR2.exe file (requiring time consuming reinstalls) until I added it to the virus programs always allow list. Hope my 2 cents was helpful. Cheers.

Goddamn, when I ran the setup batch file it looked like it was working, until it got to 5%, then it just stopped and said "The system cannot find the file specified".

It's been like this for nearly an hour, the first time I ran it it did the same thing and I ragequit it, tried running it again and it went to 5% instantly, then said the same thing about some missing file.

Any help guys?

Ack, nevermind, I typed "R" into it and continued running fine. Damn Shroo, you really gave birth to a monstrosity of an extractor. It's playing games with my head.

Played through the first level, now downloading the voices fix but did anybody else have any problems with the medkit? When I hit z, nothing happens. I even changed the keybind and nothing. Any fix for this or advice?
